I own my domain name

To use your existing domain name with Inspector’s Edge, you can contact your domain registrar through their website and request a domain name server (DNS) change. This will redirect your existing domain name to your new website hosted by InspectorsEdge.com

Alternatively, you can log in to your registrar, select the area under your domain name that should be titled “Manage DNS” or something similar.

Please note: If you are going to be using Inspector’s Edge email service you will need to change your “Name Servers” if you are using a separate email service you will just change your “A Record”.

Changing name servers

This will point your domain name and email service at Inspector’s Edge.

Over the telephone:

  • Call your current domain registrar
  • Inform them that you want to make a DNS change
  • Give them the following information:
    • Primary name server: ns11.inspectorsedge.com
    • Secondary name server: ns12.inspectorsedge.com
    • Tertiary name server: ns13.inspectorsedge.com

Through the website:

  • Log in to your current domain registrar
  • Select your domain name
  • Locate the area DNS, or Manage DNS, or something similar
  • You will be changing the name servers to the following
    • Primary name server: ns11.inspectorsedge.com
    • Secondary name server: ns12.inspectorsedge.com
    • Tertiary name server: ns13.inspectorsedge.com

Changing A-Record:

Your A-Record is meant to be changed only when you have email accounts for your domain with a separate provider and you do not wish to move them.

  • Log in to your current domain registrar
  • Select your domain name
  • Locate the area DNS, or Manage DNS, or something similar
  • You will be changing or adding the A-Record to the following
    • @ – used to point a root domain (yourdomain.com) to the IP address.
    • A-Record | @ | 159.203.51.152
    • Primary IP address: 159.203.51.152
  • You will be changing or adding the A-Record for www
    • www – used to point www.yourdomain.com to the IP address.
    • A-Record | www | 159.203.51.152
    • Primary IP address: 159.203.51.152

If you have any difficulties setting up the name servers or A-Record please contact your registrar or support.

Please Note: This is simply a DNS change, not a registrar transfer. Your domain name registration remains with your current registrar and you will still be responsible for registration fees and renewals with them. Only the domain owner can request this change. Inspector’s Edge cannot do it for you. Your DNS change may take up to 72 hours. Once this has taken effect, your site will be active with Inspector’s Edge.
